Introduction

 

I am elderly and do not think in big broad sweeps any more but in smaller units. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are not a lot of people like me. So I have written – with awe and reverence – about our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ in these small units. Why ABCs? It just helps me remember what I have written. When I go to bed at night I can begin with A and go on to Z.

I used the King James Version of the Bible for the biblical quotes. Some words that I thought were in the Bible were not. Rose, Victorious,

Some words that are certainly true of Our Lord like Wondrous are not in the Bible.

I have had a very good time writing this. I hope the reader will enjoy it too.

MY CREED: WHAT I BELIEVE

ABOUT CHRIST JESUS

I believe in Jesus Christ, the beloved Son of God, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary.

He is my Redeemer and Savior; my beloved Friend whom I may trust. He is Hope, the center of my life. He, who knew no sin, was crucified for me, buried, and rose again the third day by the power of His Father.

He ascended up into heaven and now sits on the right hand of God; the Quickening Spirit, the Lord from heaven.

Christ is God s Son, the way to God, the Second Adam, who never fell, eternal life. He is the Light who has enlightened every man who has come into the world. The Word, he brings the glad tidings of salvation. He is the Mediator who makes peace; the Life which was with the Father before the world began. He is all virtue.

Christ is sufficient; Christ is the answer.

Believe in Jesus Christ for there is no true ANCHOR to the immortal soul but by Him; no divine reason but in that Faith which He is the AUTHOR of.

BELOVED Friend

In Him be faithful, who is our CROWN. Let no man take our glorious CROWN from us.

We have a Light which we do well to take heed unto, that shines in a dark place, until the Day dawn and the DAY STAR arise in our hearts.

EVERLASTING COMMANDER who says love our enemies.

FIRST and the Last, the Top and Cornerstone. In him sit down in Life, Peace and Rest.

GOVERNOR who governs His Church in righteousness.

None comes to be children of the Light but by receiving Christ, the HOPE OF GLORY.

Christ sets up an INWARD, spiritual ministry, a spiritual worship and Fellowship, a Church without spot or wrinkle and a religion that is pure from above.

Every one of us hears His voice that speaks from heaven. In him we shall know that which cannot be shaken. There is the true JOY.

KING of KINGS and LORD of LORDS, LAMB. Let Him rule and reign in all our hearts by Faith.

Deliverer, MEDIATOR and intercessor who makes Peace between everyone and God.

CHRIST IS NEAR.

Neither be ashamed of the Bishop who is the OVERSEER of our souls.

POWER

Christ has all Power in heaven and earth given to him that all may feel his living and divine Presence among them.

Power and Spirit meet together in Jesus Christ. He is the sovereign Lord of the Universe; He has power over all men so they owe Him allegiance. Christ rules in power as universal king.

Keep your Faith in the Power of God, which will bring you to the Marriage of the Lamb, by which Power you may have oil in your lamps, that your lamps may burn always.

PROPHET, to open to us, a PRIEST forever to sanctify us, an everlasting PREACHER, whom God has anointed to preach Grace, Life, Salvation and Truth to us. PROMISE, who opens and none can shut.

The QUICKENING Spirit and ROCK of our age and ages; the Lord from heaven.

REDEEMER RECONCILER RANSOM REASON RESURRECTION REST REVELATION RIGHTEOUS ROOT ROSE RULER

The name SEED is Biblical: Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to the seed, which is Christ. Galatians 3:16.

Christ the SEED never changes but stands steadfast and distinct from everything that changes. Dwell in this immortal SEED of God who is to have Dominion in all of us.

And there is the SAFE SITTING in Christ, the new and living Way, the Word of God, the Power of God, the Light, the Life and Truth, the first, the last, the beginning, the ending, in whom is no shadow of turnings nor variableness. The saints sit in Christ, the head, and there are the exceeding riches and the kindness known again.

 

Sit under our universal TEACHER who brings us the grace of God.

All dwell in Christ Jesus who is UNCHANGEABLE so that we come to judge all the changeable ways and worship.

Death is swallowed up in VICTORY. For by man, namely Adam, came death and by man, namely Christ, came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so, in Christ shall all be made alive.

Keep under the WINGS of Christ who destroys the destroyers.

Take Christ as our eXample that there be no strife among us; take Christ as our eXample and cry, Father forgive them. eXalt Him in our assemblies.

Collar the oxen, bridle the horses, tame the wild heifer. Bring us to Christ s YOKE so that we may see our way of salvation.

Be clothed with the ZEAL of Christ and stand against all that is contrary to the Light.

Anchor

Author

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb 12:2

Christ Jesus is the Author of our faith; he is the Author of Peace, not confusion.

Day Star

Bright and morning star appear

Deliverer

Everlasting Commander

The everlasting command of the Everlasting Commander Christ, is to Love your enemies. Obey Your Everlasting Commander who says that we should not swear not all. Matt 5:34.

This is a name for Christ which was in the Geneva Bible, an earlier translation but not in the King James version. (You can check out a copy of the Geneva Bible at the NMSU Library or you can buy one on Amazon.com.)

CHILDREN OF GOD

The Children of God are to be righteous as Christ is righteous.

If Friends confess Christ in the world, He will confess them before His Father and His angels. For He gave them Power to become "sons of God ... born by the will of God."
 

SECOND BIRTH, BORN AGAIN

Glory

Glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Cor 4:6.

Governor

And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. Math 2:6. 

 

Grace

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Rm 3:24

 

Green Tree

Fresh green fruit is grafted into the green tree Christ, which never withers.

The green tree Christ never withers. (This shows Christ immortality.)

For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry? Lk 23:31

Guide

To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet in the way of peace. Lk 1 :79

Head

Ye are complete in Him which is the Head of all principality and power. Col 2:10

Head of All Things; gave him to be Head over all. Eph 1:22

The stone which the builders rejected …. Is become the Head of the corner. Mt 21:42

Christ has Truth and Power, so we should keep marriage with Him our first love, the holy one, the Just One, the Light, the Truth and Power of God, who makes an end to all unholiness.

 HOLY

Christ, the Holy One, makes an end to all unholiness. He is the Holy Head of His holy Church, the holy, heavenly Foundation and Rock.

HOLY PATH, HOLY WAY, HOLY LIFE

In the Holy Way we are to know happiness and peace, live a holy life.

HOLY TRUTH

The truth is holy, above error and falsehood; the holy, peaceable Truth never changes and is over all evil. We are to walk in the Truth and by it come into a holy life.

 

Mind the Holy Truth, which will let nothing that is unholy live in us. For nothing that is unholy may enter into the Kingdom of God.  

HOLY FELLOWSHIP

Gospel Fellowship is a perfect, pure and holy Fellowship.

I thank my God ….for your fellowship in the Gospel from the first day until now. Ph 1:3-5

HOLY: SET APART TO THE SERVICE OF GOD

Words like sacred, divine, godly, pious, reverent, respect, righteous may show our attitude toward the Holy but are not synonyms for Holy. We are holy in the sense that we are set apart to the service of God.

We are the holy generation who offer daily to the Lord the spiritual sacrifice.

Ye are a chosen generation, a loyal priesthood and holy nation, a peculiar people. 1Pet 2-9 

 

HOLY SCRIPTURES

The Light Christ inspired the Scriptures and now helps us to understand them. He distinguishes the true prophet's word from the false, the words of holy men from the words of unholy ones.

 

We are to live as pure and holy a life as possible. We are to know the scriptures and keep in the faith that works by love and purifies us. To be holy we must follow the path of the just, always looking at the shining Light.

Light

Living Presence

The Lord’s Power is over all, His Living presence is among us in all our churches. Rev 14:10

Living Stone

To whom coming as unto a living stone, disallowed of men, but chosen of God, and precious. 1Pet

Christ is the Mediator and He Intercedes between the Father and us. He is the Life who was with the Father before the world began. He is all virtue.

Mediator

He is the mediator of a better covenant. Heb 8:6

Quickening Spirit

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the spirit: 1 Pet 3 18

But the spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His spirit that dwells in you. Rom 8:11

Universal

Everyone may know and love Christ and spend eternity in His Kingdom. We may believe in universal ideas – such as Wisdom, freedom, purity, love, wholeness, goodness, and knowledge -- and practice them.

Christ is Universal in that he loves everyone and died for everyone.


Unchangeable

He hath an unchangeable priesthood. Heb 7:24

Unchangeable the same yesterday, today and forever

This appendix, Christ the Light, is based on George Fox’s letter Christ is the Light of The World, which was written in 1654 and can be found at the end of Canby Jones’ edition of the pastoral letters – after letter 420. Dr. Jones writes: In my judgment this is one of Fox’s most beautiful and inspiring letters and ranks with the best of those which were printed in the 1698 edition of Fox’s Epistles. The most moving paragraphs in it are those which deal with the multiple ways in which we can experience the presence of God and Christ within.

Christ is the Light of the world and lighteth every person who comes into the world.

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, "I am the light of the world, he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12; 1; 4, 9:5, Is 9:2

 

Christ the Light shines in darkness, but the darkness doesn’t understand Him.

Christ the Light enlightens us; He is our Teacher.

Enlighten can be translated from the Greek as teaches, hence our Teacher.

Christ the Light is the Way, Truth, Light, and Life.

He is the way to the Father, perfect Truth, the Light as opposed to darkness.

He quickens us, gives us life, quickens our spirit.

　

If we love Christ the Light and if we wait, stand still in Him, we will receive Him; if we love Christ the Light and obey Him, He will lead us out of darkness and out of our sinful ways into a life of power and truth. He will teach us to worship God in spirit and in truth.

Obey Him. Heb 5:9. Isa 26:3. 40:31.

Wait in the Christ the Light who discovers sin and evil in us. He sets a watch over all our thoughts. He gives us the power to deliver from temptation.

Heed –pay attention to Him – and He will show us all righteous and unrighteousness. We will Know the Way of Salvation and have true power, joy, and comfort.

He is in our conscience, shows us our sins and gives us power so that we can give them up. He will show us how we have spent our time and how we have acted.

DELIGHT IN THE Lord ABOVE

We delight in those things that are perishing and fading instead of delighting in the Lord above. (Psalm 37:4)

THE LIGHT CHRIST IS WITHIN

The Light Christ is within. The Light of the Glory of God in the face of Christ the Light is within, the Heavenly treasure is within. 2 Cor. 4:6-7

Truth and Life are within. John 14, 17:26

Faith

Faith is a gift of God which comes from hearing the Word preached. The Word works faith in the heart within. (Romans 10 6-7, Peter 3: 18-19)

If we believe, Christ the Light will clothe us.
